Privacy Policy

Effective October 23, 2026. What this site collects, why, and the choices you have.

PsychoPharmRef is a free educational reference run by Jerad Shoemaker, MD. Most of the site works without an account, and the clinical tools run entirely in your browser. This page lists every way the site collects information about you.

Do Not Enter Patient Information

PsychoPharmRef is not a healthcare provider and is not designed to hold protected health information. The rating scales, calculators, and planners compute their results in your browser, and the scores you enter are not sent to us. Even so, do not type patient names, dates of birth, record numbers, or other identifiers into any field on this site, including comments and the contact form.

Usage Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages and tools are used. It sets first-party cookies and records information such as pages viewed, approximate location derived from your IP address, device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy. You can block it with your browser's cookie settings, a content blocker, or the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. The site works the same either way.

Contact Form

If you use the contact form, we receive the email address and message you submit. The form is delivered by Formspree. We use it only to reply to you.

Question Bank Account

Signing in to the question bank is optional. Accounts are managed by Supabase, which stores your email address and a securely hashed password, or your Google account email if you choose Google sign-in. If you leave feedback on a question, we store the comment together with your email address so we can follow up on it.

Chapter Comments

Comments at the bottom of chapters run on a separate comments service hosted on Vercel and Supabase. To comment you create an account with an email address or Google sign-in. Your display name and comments are public. Your email address is not shown to other readers. A sign-up checkbox lets you choose whether to receive the newsletter.

Newsletter

The newsletter is hosted by beehiiv. When you subscribe, beehiiv stores your email address and records opens and clicks. Every issue has an unsubscribe link.

Embedded Videos

Recommended videos in chapters use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). Nothing loads from YouTube until you press play.

Storage in Your Browser

The site uses your browser's local and session storage to remember things like your disclaimer acknowledgment and tool preferences. This information stays on your device and is not sent to us.

What We Don't Do

Your Choices and Requests

You can ask us to see, correct, or delete the information tied to your email address, including question-bank and comment accounts. Send the request through the contact form and we will respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or state privacy laws, and we will honor requests made under them.

Children

PsychoPharmRef is written for clinicians and trainees. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page.
