What the module teaches
Module 7 closes the PsychoPharmRef behavioral and cognitive-behavioral therapy course. It covers how to sequence and combine therapies for real, comorbid presentations, how to integrate psychotherapy with medication, how to maintain fidelity and look after yourself, and how to deliver these treatments through telehealth and stepped care. It ends with a personal action plan.
Learn tab topics
- Transdiagnostic formulation and sequencing: find shared maintaining mechanisms (avoidance, unhelpful appraisals, low reinforcement, arousal), stabilize risk and function first, then treat the most impairing or foundational problem
- Combining therapy with pharmacotherapy: define each treatment's role, coordinate with the prescriber, align the message to the client, and track symptoms and function
- Comorbidity and complex presentations: prioritize by risk, impairment and client preference, and deliver fewer techniques well
- Supervision, fidelity and self-care: adherence and competence checklists, recorded review, deliberate practice, and burnout monitoring
- Digital tools, telehealth and stepped care: adapting exposures and safety planning to remote delivery, and matching intensity to need
- Measuring outcomes with standardized measures, Goal Attainment Scaling and functional indicators
Interactive worksheets
| Tab | What you build |
|---|---|
| Formulation and Sequencing | A problem list with impairment ratings and maintaining mechanisms, and a treatment sequence |
| Therapy + Medication | Target problems, the roles of medication and therapy, prescriber coordination, a shared client message and shared monitoring |
| Fidelity and Supervision | A treatment-integrity checklist with a live adherence percentage, a supervision plan and a self-care check |
| Stepped Care and Telehealth | Intensity matched from mild to severe presentations, and a telehealth readiness checklist (privacy, consent, emergency contacts, remote safety plan, backup plan) |
| Capstone Action Plan | Techniques to practice from Modules 1–6, outcome measures to adopt, supervision to seek, next steps for the month, and a learning goal scored with Goal Attainment Scaling |
Each tab copies its contents as plain text. A print button saves the module as a PDF, and blank fill-by-hand worksheets can be downloaded from the module header. The course assessment described in the module is a written case formulation plus a live or recorded demonstration of two techniques from different modules.
Who it is for
The module is for clinicians and trainees working through the course under supervision. The worksheets are planning aids; prescribing and clinical decisions rest with the treating clinician. References include Persons' The Case Formulation Approach to Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (2008), Bower and Gilbody's reviews of stepped care, the measurement-based care literature, and guideline documents from NICE, APA, NIMH, CDC and SAMHSA.
